Fertile Egg / Chicks Production
As one of the largest suppliers of day old chicks to independent broiler growers, Prestige Daybreak Poultry Farm have ensured that we employ the best technical team available to successfully rear parent birds and produce quality hatching eggs.
At 24 weeks of age, the breeding stock is sufficiently mature to begin producing fertile eggs. These eggs are hand collected from the nesting boxes in the breeder houses four times a day and carefully graded to ensure that only first grade eggs are used for hatching. They are then transported by truck to the hatchery where they are held in air-conditioned egg stores for up to a week before being set in the state of the art incubators.
Eggs are set according to customer orders, which are placed at least 3 weeks in advance. The day old chick is the end product, which is then vaccinated and packed in boxes containing 100 chicks. The product is now ready for either collection or delivery to the customer.
The day old chick market is quality and price driven. The best strategy therefore is to supply the end product at a competitive price, without compromising on the quality for which Prestige Daybreak Poultry Farm is known.
The team of experts that is involved in producing the eggs and chicks are all experienced stockmen that have a passion for the industry. This team is divided into groups that specialize in each discipline and they are engaged in these activities on a full time basis. This dedication to providing the best possible product has resulted in Prestige Daybreak Poultry Farm Chicks only using the Ross /Cobb breed for our grandparent stock. We are in the process of implementing the new Ross 308 breed throughout each of the breeding farms within Prestige Daybreak Poultry Farm.
